Stampin’ Polka Dots for a Blooming Birthday

Have you ever had a time where you feel that a particular technique is all that you do each time you start a stamp project?  That's me!!  Once I started working with stencils…EVERYTHING is getting stencilled!  LOVE it….soooo easy and fun!  I'm in desperate need of birthday cards and the new the Flower Patch photopolymer stamp set (and my stencils, of course) came together quite beautifully.  But, let me first show you the card I found on Pinterest I used as inspiration.

So, what do you think? Let's walk through the transformation together….

• Whisper White card base measures the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" with the fold down the left side.
• The next Whisper White layer (3-5/8" x 5-1/8") features the Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks.  Using a Stampin' sponge and Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink, I set the mask in place and sponged ink in all of the circle openings at the upper half of this layer.  I did concentrate to make sure that I had strong circle outlines while sponging the mask.
• To add a little sparkle and bling, I used my 2-Way Glue Pen to each large marked circle and added Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter.
• Before adding the sponged layer to the Blackberry Bliss matte layer, I die cut the larger Flower Fair Framelit.  Neat trick when you don't have scraps or don't want to cut into a new full sheet of cardstock.  I call it 'stealing' because no one is ever gonna know when you put the sponged layer on top!  Teehehe
• I added a strip of Soft Sky cardstock that was die cut using one of the Finishing Touches edgelits.  Then added a piece of Soft Sky 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and Silver Metallic Baker's Twine to present a defined sentiment area.  The sentiment comes from the Flower Patch stamp set, inked with Blackberry Bliss and stamped in place. 
• The main focal point is the Flower Patch layers….the top layer is stamped and inked with Soft Sky and Blackberry Bliss, die cut using the coordinating Flower Fair Framelit and popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals. onto the 'stolen' Blackberry Bliss die cut.  Add a Rhinestone Jewel to the center and pop it up on the card with more dimensionals, and you've got a WOW card.
• MASKING TIP:  Be careful when sponging so that your mask doesn't slip a bit….then your circles will look a bit wonky and not a vivid circle shape.  Use Blue Painter's tape to hold the stencil in place on your work surface to avoid it slipping out of place.
