Stamp It Blog Hop for Father’s & Dad’s Day

TeamStampIt-BlogHeader-May2016

Welcome stampers and crafters to our Stamp It Blog Hop for the month of May.  This is kind of funny…I am currently traveling to attend my niece's high school graduation, but I'm also going to celebrate Mother's Day with my Mom, too.  The funny part….the theme for this month's hop is "Father's Day"!  haha  You know the saying…"hit two birds with one stone"!

I have had sooo much going on with my full-time job (outside of the home), that my creative juices are struggling to make a presence in my stamping studio (aka family kitchen).  ;)  I always enjoy creating a masculine card, but due to the lack of MOJO, I decided to look through the Occasions catalog to see what I could CASE (Copy And Share Everything).  After all, that's what the catalogs are for, right?!!  I knew that I had the Going Global stamp set and coordinating Going Places Designer Series paper pack, so that was half my battle.  I found a project to CASE and even found a way to tweak it a bit.  Let's check it out!

Soooo, what do you think?!  Pretty good for copying a Stampin' Up! Concept Artists' work, right?

Creative Tips:

  • The little package is die cut from a 'worldly map' patterned design using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits die.  Since the Designer Series paper pack is a 6" x 6" size, you'll need 2 sheets to die cut both parts to the treat bag.  NOTE:  the designer paper has a horizontal pattern that I wanted to be consistent all the way around the package, so I made sure to position my dies accordingly when I ran each one through my Big Shot.  You can click on the image to enlarge and get a closer look to see what I am describing.  Very, very easy to align the dies with the pattern.

  • The focal portion of the package uses two more different patterns from the same designer series paper stack.  I should point out just how much I really love these paper stacks.  You get 48 sheets total….4 each of 12 double-sided designs for $8.00.  The designs are on a smaller scale than what you get with the 12"x12" designer papers, which is the reason I love them so much.  My project is small, so the smaller designs are perfect!
  • The compass was stamped using Sahara Sand ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out with the 2" Circle punch.
  • The sentiment was inked with Archival Basic Black ink onto a strip of Sahara Sand cardstock and die cut using the banner from the Large Numbers Framelits die set.  I set it in place on the compass image using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I love the contrast of the Hello Honey Striped Cotton Ribbon to connect the Compass and Sentiment to the designer paper banners.  I attached the ribbon ensemble to the banners using a couple strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive….just to make sure that it stays put!
  • Basic Black Bakers Twine was wrapped around the treat package a couple of times and tied in a bow.

Now, the original creation shown on page 39 in the Occasions catalog has some crumpled filler in the Mini Treat Package.  I decided to make the project into a pocket card.  The base is Basic Black with Very Vanilla and a strip of the Going Places Designer Paper to tie the 2 projects together.  This was such a fun project to create and is much easier than you would believe.  Not that I am wishing time to fly (because I already struggle getting time to slooooow down), but I am really anxious for Father's Day to get here.  Yes, yes, yes….after I celebrate Mom's day on Sunday!
