A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop — A Sara Thing Kit
Hello Stampers and Papercrafters! Welcome to our very first A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!! A number of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world have joined together to share alternative projects using supplies from the monthly kit. This month's hop features the wonderful "A Sara Thing" kit. I am a culprit of habit, and don't always get my box opened, and when I do, it is to create the projects in the way that the instructions are laid out. So, I am super excited to be a member of this group so that I can make myself 'think outside the box'! *giggle* Let's see how I did.
I knew that I was going to do something with the embossed heart, but in my head it looked more like a diamond. I am very fortunate that I have two jewels in my life…my Mom and my Mother-in-Law! Both are amazing women and I would not trade them for anything.
I used most of the supplies that came in the kit, but added a few things that weren't. The Whisper White layer is matted to a piece of Cucumber Crush; and I added a strip of Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper from the Brights Paper Stack. Shaker cards are always a fun, so I cut out the center of the embossed heart with a Sweet & Sassy heart framelit and backed it with a piece of Window Sheet.
The kit came with a free set of 4 Watercolor Pencils, so I stuck with coloring the entire embossed heart with Rich Razzleberry. I stamped the "You" sentiment with Archival Basic Black ink onto the Window Sheet before adding Foam Adhesive Strips to the back to create the shaker component. Add a piece of Delicate White Doilies for a more feminine appeal and top with one of the Rich Razzleberry flower accents and leaves.

Oh my! Such awesome shaker card!!! Love it!!!
I LOVE how you made this a shaker card, what a great idea! This card is so VERY pretty
Hi Lori, I very much agree with your thought that the heart looks like a diamond. I think it does, too. Your card is even prettier than the card kit instructions, if that is possible. !! I often make the Paper Pumpkin cards exactly how the instructions are given (like you said), but then I try to think of something else. This is a wonderful challenge to get our creative juices flowing. You did a great job.
I can only echo what everybody else is saying: this heart shaker card is wonderful! This is creative beyond anything else I’ve seen with this kit. TFS!
Love your card!
