October Stamp It Blog Hop — Thanksgiving

  Thanksgiving-blog-hop

Good Morning stampers and paper crafters!  I'm so excited to have you visiting me. Welcome to my spot on the Stamp It Bog Hop for the month of October.  This month's theme is Thanksgiving.  I have a dear friend who has been taking lots of pictures of the change of leaves in her area.  The time lapse showcasing the change in color has been breathtaking; thus, the outcome of my card project.  I have several friends struggling with health complications and/or have lost a loved one…they could use a little extra special love sent their way….beautiful happy mail to put a smile on their face and in their heart.

If you have been traveling along the Stamp It Group Blog Hop, you may have come here from, Linda Cullen's blog.  If this is your very first stop, I want to thank you so much for stopping to visit me. If you like to skip and hop and happen to get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

I love creating cards that stray away from the traditional A2 card base size (4-1/4" x 5-1/2").  There was a left over piece of Kraft cardstock sitting in the Merry Little Christmas 12" x 12" Cardstock pack that was only 4" wide.  **squeal**  Perfect opportunity to create something 'unusual'.

My favorite time of the year is the Fall season and the leaves dies that come in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits die set are sooo much fun.  When I was figuring out an arrangement of the Fresh Fig, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie colored leaves, I decided to leave the little pieces in the large intricate pieces.  As the leaves fall from the tree, they are still whole, but as we rake them into a pile, some will have little hallowed areas as the dried areas crumble.

To add some balance, the large scallop die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits helped with the Old Olive matte layer attached to the Pinewood Planks Very Vanilla layer.  The sentiment comes from the coordinating stamp set called Colorful Seasons…die cut from the Lovely Laurel Thinlits die set.

For more Thanksgiving themed inspiration, make sure you hop on over to Pam Nichols's blog and all the other Stamp It Group members' blogs to see what projects they have to share.  Thank you so much for stopping by….stop back again real soon.

  1. Leaving some of the cut pieces in while taking some out is pure genius. Because you are so right, leaves deteriorate around their veins as they dry out. So this was a much more realistic look. I really love that idea! #stampitcontest

  2. #stampitcontest I never thought of leaving some or most of the pieces in the maple leaf ribs die cut. Thank you for that inspiration.

The purple looks great in fall cards and I love how parts of the die cuts are left in instead of taking all the little pieces out.

  7. Love the card base a tad smaller in width—LOL—worth the SQUEAL–and the colors are total yelling Fall—thanks for sharing.
